Had a large native pecan die from the drought earlier this year. Finally got around to doing something with it. My buddy has a bandsaw mill and took the trunk and one of the bigger limbs. Another buddy is coming for the remainder of the stuff for firewood and cooking use.

24" at base, still 23" nine foot up. Should make some pretty lumber.
Got that taken care of and started on 25# of sausage

I’ve burned a heckuva lot of pecan firewood.
Good wood. Splits hard. Stringy as all get out. Makes a lot of ash.
About gotta burn it the year you cut it. Gets super buggy if left very long.

Agreed. Had a buddy in OK who loved pecan wood and had a bunch of pecan trees on his place. We buried him in a pecan coffin. Digger man said it was new wood for coffins that year. We took that as a sign.

35% venison, 65% pork butts. Salt, pepper, garlic and paprika.
