got the new compass in today

I went with a Brunton TruArc3 I didn't need a ton of features and the only real complaint about this one in reviews was a lack of grid lines , I don't use a map an declination much being I sit at almost 0 magnetic declination far east side of WI is -4 and far west side is +1.5 I sit basically at 0.

I saw Made in USA and thought well that would be nice for a change.

the feature I can't work with is this one , my fingers draw the needle but don't on the silva

the Brunton takes a touch longer to settle out than the silva that 1/2 -3/4 second I could have lived with
but I hold my compass to take a reading having to be sure my fingers are not under the bezel that would be an issue.
it is all my fingers , no I don't have chunks of metal imbedded in my hands , my pinkie fingers move it to a lesser extent
my son tried and his move it some but not as bad as mine.
so maybe it is very high iron levels in my blood either way it isn't going to work for me. so I am returning it.

I moved my fingers all around trying to get my Silva to do it and could not get it to follow my finger like the Brunton.

That's really something. I just tried it with my old Silva Ranger and the needle will react to my finger about 2 degrees. I wonder if your finger is creating static electricity by moving across plastic ?

maybe but that just doesn't work for me when it will follow my finger 360 around in a circle so it is going back.

it doesn't do it on my Silva the other compass in the picture.

I tried with a sheet of notebook paper between my finger and the bottom of the bezel and it moved a lot less but I could still get it 15-20 degrees in either direction

my son couldn't make it move as much as my fingers did but it still moved

Oh for sure that won't cut it !
