Pickle is the first step immediately after rehydrating, or can be done at the same time as the rehydrating.

But if am tanning a fresh pelt, I don't need to rehydrate it, do I?

you can go straight into the pickle with a fresh hide if you wish. youll just need to really make to sure to do the degreasing step.

Anyone have a link to Bocos tanning page? I had it saved but my iPad did a thing and all my favourites are gone. Did a quick search in the fur handling page but hard to narrow it down.

My 6 year old son and I just finished tanning his first muskrat using Boco's method and it worked well (wall hanger). We have two coon hides in the pickle right now, but I expect them to be more of a challenge.

If you have no experience in fur dressing, start with a single pelt .

the best way to learn is from muskrat and rabbit pelts.
