Statute of limitations run out, plus both parents have now passed, so OK to reveal that as kids, my cousin and I used birdshot in his dad's 22 revolver to shoot carpenter bees on the wing. Worked great for that. Can't think of much else it would be good for.
As for ejecting, we have the same problem in an old 22 single shot bolt gun that for 50 years plus has only shot shorts. Put a LR in it and it won't extract it. My guess is there is a carbon ring where the shorter casing ends. Same with longer bird shot brass? Carbon rings can be cleaned out, what you have is a corrosive hot gas bell out, the case will expand to fill the groove and get's stuck.

Ammo Planet has both types of 22 bird shot on sale, crimped and blue plastic cup. The crimped were $13.49 a box.

I don't think I could spend that much for them Shawn. Maybe $8-9 but I really don't have much use for them. Good to see some available though. I have never shot one. I don't know what I would use them for. So at that price they are a pass for me too. I bought a few boxes off a auction for $3 a box to haul to the gun shows and at $3 a box if there had been 100 boxes, I would have bought them all, and never shot one.

There’s 50 rounds in those Federal boxes. $15 isn’t bad in my opinion. Last box of them I bought was likely about $2.50, lol.
