Was watching a bit ago
They had a mechanical bank,,,,,,What a great way to teach kids saving. Called my dad and asked him to pull a good one from his stuff in boxes.

Appraisals and the real world are 2 different things. No doubt the pennant is worth money but what realistically? I never see them offer to pay up what they say it is worth.. They quite often reshow an item and have a site you can go to and see what it brought. Also sometimes they give retail for item, which of course is the high end And sometimes insurance value which is high end plus 25% or more

I get that, they act like it is a cut and dry price which it isnt. The owner thinks he is getting screwed when someone offers him a real world price. The only thing I can see their appraisal being good for/needed for is insurance. Look at a recent Case XX knife price guide then look at recent online sold prices- big difference. I hear you but at times the item goes for way more than their estimate also. It is just an estimate.
