What are you using for fasteners? Those panels split easily.

I make mine the same way. I pre-drill my holes, only takes a second with that soft wood.

Use them for bird house in the summer and they will smell great for winter weasels..

I cheat when I make mine...cheap plastic ammo cans are perfect size for rat snap traps.

I made an "insert" with a rat trap attached that slides right into my newspaper tubes I use for Marten.

Pneumatic narrow crown staple gun does a great job holding wood like that together and yes a little glue goes a long way. I made some boxes like that this season and am having trouble holding ermine. Previous boxes were wider and rat trap was set so ermine crossed perpendicular to the trap. I have modified some traps by pre drilling and running screws in from the bottom so tips protrude like spikes. Still having trouble holding and the little suckers are robbing me of bait at larger sets. Any other set recommendations using a larger trap?

Are you sure you are getting ermine, not mice, moles or shrews? I have never had a problem holding ermine with a rat trap. Ever.

Make a wire barrier as a bait holder. Make them work for it.
