I'm meeting some people in Baudette next Monday mid day. I'll be in the Duluth area for something Saturday. Looking to fish somewhere between Duluth and Baudette. Looking if anyone could point me in the area/direction of decent crappie fishing along the way. PM's if you'd like Appreciate any info!
Thanks

I would try Bowstring Lake. It's on the way.

Leech, Winnie and Bowstring would all be good choices and on your way. I haven't checked the Outdoor News fishing reports lately to see if anything is biting though. Looking at the long range forecast you should have GREAT weather!

I have nothing clever to put here.

I'll respond to put it back to the top for the night crew. You will drive in close proximity to many of the big lakes in Northern MN. I don't have any first hand info for you from this year. With the colder weather things should be locked up good. You will drive right by Red Lake and close to Leech, Cass and Winnibigoshish. My guess is that all will have plenty of others out fishing too.

PM sent.

This was on Winnie, before Christmas.

Not big numbers, but decent fish. Biggest was right at 15". I think Bowstring would be easier to fish, if for no other reason than it being a smaller lake. It is also not as clear, so the chances of a daytime bite are a bit better.

I get the updated Outdoor News on Thursday or Friday and would be happy to share what it says for the lakes mentioned.

Crappies are going pretty good on Upper Red again. Not like the boom but it's been strong from what I hear.

Did I hear correctly that the natives want that portion of Upper Red so they will control the whole lake?

Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.

Is that a surprise?

Not at all. Would they close it down to all non-Indians then? Is that their plan?

I'm guessing with some of the other bands stating their treaties are now null and void, they want to re-open their treaty and take back the rest of the lake.
Our governor is the first governor since the treaties were finalized that agrees with them.
It didn't hurt that the MilleLacs band donated 1M to the democrats campaign this last election.
