Id say most movements are before and after the fronts come and go.

After freezeup in the north beaver dont move much at all 90% of their activity is between the feedbed and the house-why they are so easy to trap under ice. Animals in general have to eat more to keep warm in cold climates. Some animals with low metabolism will hole up to conserve energy during short cold snaps. This is only a temporary thing though. They need to eat eventually so will be more active in the cold. Animals with high metabolic rates get very active in the cold. But they take advantage of the sun during the day and will hunt more during the day when it is a bit warmer. As far as southern animals in the south I doubt weather that is just a little colder than normal would have any effect on them at all.

From the story in the snow, the K9's were up and moving the night of/just after the snow (Sunday night). From the story in the snow today, no new movement last night. Lows in the teens(Sunday) and in the single digits last night.

Glad your getting advice from bozo from the frozen north about southern animals, lol.
K9's and cats run around like crazy in it, some coon hole up and if you got ice beaver get spooky, they not use to hearing that crackling sound.
Not my circus, not my clowns.

I've caught beaver frozen to the 330 but not enough to form a pattern because if it gets nasty I'm tripping traps and see you on the flip side.

Had what was supposed to be 1"-3" snow forecast several years ago. I decided to leave traps set. Caught one coyote while it was snowing hard. By the time I made my rounds there was already 4" on the ground. Before it finally quit, there was 10" and it got bitter cold, single digit lows and stayed cold enough during the day that the snow did not melt on top so it did not crust over. Stayed that way for a week and the only fresh tracks I saw were deer. When it finally warmed up, it was a muddy mess. Checking empty traps for a week sure me me wish I had snapped my traps before the snow. I knew the coon and possums would hole up but I figured the coyotes and cats would be hunting somewhere on my loop but they were not. Great habitat for prey and I have had good success with coyotes and cats before that storm and since then. It did not make sense to me but it seemed like they holed up somewhere and hunkered down until the snow melted and it warmed up some.

When it gets this cold here in the single digits and teens. I think they stay put and conserve energy a bit; especially if its just a 2-3 day event like this one. I know the birds certainly do. Son and one of his buddies called all day yesterday and only called in one cat.
They have good places too with lots of varmints.

If AZ is south,,,,,,,it would depend on wind speed.
WA ,,,,wind
A rabbit,,,wind A Pheasant,,,,,,,wind Most others,,,wind Mink,,,,,always move, they are adhd
Best coyote hunting is after the wind stops in My Area
Water trapping never changes unless ya suck at it. Beaver are the smartest when trained Rats,,,not so
One thing my dog thought, they dont need as much food, but they still need water
Ant Man/ Marty 2028 just put your ear to the ground , and follow along
