BORDER SHOWDOWN: Texas Must Give Feds Access by Jan. 18, or Else, Says Biden Admin

A strongly worded letter from the Department of Homeland Security to the State of Texas demands access to the U.S.-Mexico border on land seized by the State in Eagle Pass. DHS officials ordered the State to cease and desist its efforts to block Border Patrol’s access in and around Shelby Park “and remove all barriers to access” by the end of the day on January 17.

Texas’s actions are clearly unconstitutional and are actively disrupting the federal government’s operations,” DHS General Counsel Jonathan E. Meyer wrote in a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. “We demand that Texas cease and desist its efforts to block Border Patrol’s access in and around the Shelby Park area and remove all barriers to access in the Shelby Park area.” The counsel sets a deadline of the end of the day on January 17.
“The recent actions by the State of Texas have impeded (emphasis added) operations of the Border Patrol. Those actions conflict with the authority and duties of Border Patrol under federal law and are preempted under the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution,” Meyer stated.

Biden has a war going in every other direction, it’s getting about time to bring one to him here. I don’t think he would have much to work with, maybe a bunch of woke city folk will try and back him up?

Biden and company ignores every decision or law that doesn't suit his regime, if I was in charge of Texas I'd tell them to pound sand.

Abbott should have made this stand 3 years ago. Too little too late.
With that said, I hope he stands his ground and forces a confrontation. It needs to happen. The federal government is out of control on their border policy. We and our children's children will be suffering from it for decades.

Prediction: Texas is going to lose this one when it goes to court.

Meanwhile, Abbott looks good to his voters.

This keeps on and a loss in court is the least of our worries.

What legal right does a state have to protect its border if that border is with a foreign country? Has to be some sorta right. Where does a states right to protect it's citizens end if the federal government fails to protect that states citizens?
I hope abbot stays the course.

Doesn't look very good to you though, does he? It's not "the rule of law" that drives your concern. Where's your sidekick? I figured the twins might have something to say about it.

Hello, James.
Mr. Abbott is a very good man. We are one of the very few ranches left in our area. Everything is being developed for new housing, from the flow of people from Cali and everywhere else. We where getting pressured to make our ranch a park with trails. It was very stressful for us and our others. I wrote him and he wrote us back. Within a week they left us alone.
He may loose but I feel he will do his best.

Article 4 Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution states: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.

I guess he can just ignore the court's decision if he doesn't like it. Like Biden does.

I think Biden/Mayorkas would love a confrontation between the military and the BP. It would produce great headlines and give them an excuse to escalate the situation. I don't think it will materialize. BP is tired of being used as pawns.
