Howdy folks, couple questions for southern folks who handle fur.
I have some skins hanging out on my back screened in porch. Temps have varied between 48*-70* since hung.
I was ganna pull them today, but had a storm roll in and now the leather is back to being tacky/pliable.

Will this cause fur slipping? Rot?
Should I just throw them in a pickle to tan?

I know the fur has no value, but would like to try to do something with the fur besides chucking it in the bone pile.

I see this was posted yesterday so I assume you've done something with them by now?

I just let them dry throughout the day then pulled them off the stretcher. I will try to tan them this weekend if I get time. (Orange bottle) I am going to try bocos formula next, I just need to pick up a few more ingredients.

I live in south lousiana I freeze my fur green then when I get enough to tan I flesh and go strait to salting or strait to pickle.I've had good luck so far no hair slipping.also from what I have read it saves a lot of headache and time in the rehydrating step.
