Hello everyone my names Burke Yoder, I’m needing any advice on trapping coyotes and bobcats. I’ve just recently this past year had a bunch on my deer cameras and from what I’ve read they can do a number on the fawns and turkeys. I’ve tried to for a short amount of time a couple years ago but never got serious about it. I boiled and waxed 6 mb550’s and have them in the dirt right now with a couple trail cameras on the ones I can’t check from a distance. I’ll be honest I thought the boiling waxing and wearing gloves was gonna do the trick but I’ve had 3 bob cats and a fox walk within 5 to 10 yards of my sets and not pay them any attention. From what I’ve read the coyotes can smell crazy good so I tried not to over do it on the Cavens bait I used but I’m wondering if I may have under done it. As for the coyotes they haven’t made their loop yet but I’m expecting them to come through any day now. All advice is greatly appreciated and I know putting in the time is gonna be the best thing for me but I’ve got a lot to learn so here we are. It also ate me up seeing them pass what I thought were great sets without checking them out. Thanks in advance for any tips!

… put your sets right where they’re walking

.. visual attraction like feathers will help you on the cats

Insert profound nonsense here

Savell has kin in south GA, who goes by swamp wolf on here you can try to pm him. (Just make sure your trapping license is up to date and everything is on the up and up.)

I saw the eye appeal for bob cats helps tremendously, thanks everyone! I’m gonna try to give it a day or two and if I continue to get cats on camera I’ll definitely be putting some feathers or visual attractions out. My papa owns chicken houses and said he‘ll have as many dead ones as I want tomorrow!
