Know I will take flack for not understanding peoples connection with their cats/dogs but oh well. Why do we allow certain people to bring their pets everywhere they want? I mean I am not a pet owner by choice but should not be forced to deal with yours. I get that blind people need them at times and certain people gain from a comfort dog. But their are places for health reasons pets should not be. Like grocery sections of stores, restaurants, butcher shops right? In some cases breaking health codes or is all that out the window?
Three examples: 1. Getting chicken at the local grocery store and a local I know of but don't know is in with his comfort dog. Dog is literally sniffing nose to the burger on lowest shelf space. Not licking but sniffing. 2. Wife and I are local bar and grill. They have a dog in their all hours. Wife is about to grab a chicken stripe and the dog runs up and licks her hand. She gets up to wash them and owner says oh come it is just a kiss! That was her last time in there (man their wings where great!). 3. At the store the other day and in walk 2 girls high school age. Both walking a dog and each other. Yep each had a dog on a lease and each had one on each other. Not sure what they were getting but I was getting paper plates. They were near me and I was trying to ignore then while one of their tiny dogs had its nose in my pant leg. Wanting to drop kick it!
I am not an animal hater by any means. Just seems like boundaries of all kinds are out the window. I could list a hundred more examples I have had to deal with others pets and have even pet a number of them. But should we have to? I couldn't agree more. I have dogs and they are well cared for but at the end of the day they are still dogs. They also live outside where dogs belong. I just returned from an elk hunt where we stayed in an awesome air B&B. It was a log home on 40 acres really nice and clean. All but the dog hair all over the couches and area rugs. Couldn't walk in socks or sit on the couch without dog hair all over you. Disgusting !

People bring dog into places that allow it for attention.
I have not taken a dog anywhere for attention since I was 16. Had the 2 seater convertible out figured taking my beagle along would be a bonus chicks like dogs. Well I had two girls and my beagle in thet 2 seater and things were heading in a very good direction when the dog threw up. It went right up one girls shorts leg she has on umbros. Needless to say things didn't go like I thought they were going to after that and it was the last time that dog went with me. Now when I take a dog it's often for training. Not attention. I don't like many people and don't care what even les think. But my dogs do need training when they are at that point the do go in public. But only places dogs are welcome. Now support animals many take way beyond reason. Yet I'm still for them. Infact mom's cats are about all that keep her alive when she was going through chemo and radiation. Her condo got a lesson when they tried to make her get rid of them. They don't go out or to store they shouldn't. If you take your dog into a store, you're doing it for attention!!
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Service dogs will/should ignore stuff like the OP posted. They are trained to constantly be on alert for their person.
A dog that is labeled a service animal and doing the things you mentioned are not true service dogs.
My cousin has one for her epilepsy and the dog won't even acknowledge another persons presence when working. I've seen her take it into restaurants before and food get dropped on the floor right in front of it and it acted like it wasn't there.

my wife and I are allergic to cats, and I'm allergic to dogs somewhat. so, we are on a plane to Florida 4-hour flight, and a family of 8 kids gets on the plane, well they had 4 animals with them, the flight attend, said that they would help the kids during the flight and that they wouldn't come out of their cages. Well, I don't think we were off the ground, and they had them out passing they around, and the kids were the worst behave kids I have ever seen on a plane, and we were sick for the first 4 days of vacation,

I have very strong feelings about this, but I will keep it highly condensed so as to not get me banned. Those people who treat their pets as anything but pets have a mental defect. I have ALWAYS treated my dogs well, but they have never been and never will be equivalent to a human. People who call their pets their children or that they are a cat or dog "parent" when speaking are totally mental. If you are the kind of person that thinks your ANIMAL needs to live in your HUMAN house and is willing to tolerate behavior from the animal that you would never tolerate from a human being in your house you have issues.

I want a skunk too! “Sir Lars of Roquefort” but “Roku” for short If you get one watch how many idiots stick their finger in its face to see if it bites them, from experience it’s a lot of idiots that do that. LOL I always turned Abby around so they could touch the fur on her rear and back because if she bite anyone it’s a death sentience then. She never bit anyone ever if you’re wondering.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
