We have been on Medicare for almost 20 years and have had Humana and a supplemental. The doughnut hole always was an issue because it came at a time of year when work is slow and money is tight.

This year we got sticker shock when we picked up 1 months supply of blood thinner we both are prescribed for. Out of the doughnut hole it would have been $100.00 and change. January purchase was $1030.00 for 1 month. Retirement is good until things like this happens.

Anyone else?

I’m not on any medications but I’ve heard mom talk about a doughnut hole and she doesn’t even understand it but yes theirs meds change price also, especially the eloquist I believe? Which I think is a blood thinner. I most time pick up her monthly pill pack and even though it’s the same stuff it’s always a different price.

Because of what Biden did you will pay more for certain drugs this year than ever before.

Yes Eliquis for me and Xarelto for my wife! It used to be baby aspirin. St Johns Wart is a blood thinner also but Dr. won't use!

Do you review your med options yearly with a consultant on who pays the most coverage on what meds during the enrollment periods! Here the State has a review program that the wife goes to with a list of our meds it’s called Shine to see the best places to fill our prescriptions. Look into Good RX also it’s free but it offers discounts on a lot of different meds Walmart pharmacy is very good at helping out with finding the cheapest plans also.

I just got a notice of changes coming down the pike from Medicare but have not ran into any changes in my costs yet.

The Walmart people have been so helpful with simplifying my prescriptions it unbelievable my 2 meds cost me $12 total for a 3 month supply of 360 Metformin and 90 Crestor. They even mail my meds to me no charge for that $12 copay.

I had to take a picture of a email I received recently after attempting to figure out Medicare. Don't Trust Medicare Agents....lol

My wife and I over the years we were forced to go on Medicare have had several issues and with the supplemental coverage we have not had to pay any out of pocket expenses. We pay for both coverages!

I am glad I can still work. Obama and his Obama Care we will never go back, been too long!

That no out of pocket sounds great but the coverage goes up like clockwork so that’s still out of our pockets. It’s like car insurance it never goes back down and the longer you have it the harder it is to move to another plan for less.

Just received another email from the same person saying I have till February 14 to change coverage. I am going to consult with a state agency here about all of this. I went there when I signed up for Medicare and They helped us.

Pretty sure the enrollment period is over but I’m not sure 100% might be a scam be careful. Look for a closing date on the web.

Looked it up it closed here on the 16th

If you're a Veteran, get registered at a VAMC and see how much you can save on meds! You may not need it now, but might someday.

All Medicare Supplement policies are identical between insurers. Plan G coverage with any company is the same as with every other Plan G. Prices can vary but coverage is identical. Can’t comment on the Advantage policies. I retired before they were introduced.

My parents have advantage and there is NOT a donut hole on theirs. Blue cross blue shield medicare advantage. Another thing lobbyist got passed. WHY are you forced to go to medicare at 65? Retirement from the state includes insurance for life but at 65 the feds foot most of the bill.

The Medicare program might be the same but they have options to choose from. The supplement providers are not the same and the med suppliers are also different is what they provide if not open enrollment periods would be useless.

Rather than spending US taxpayer money on the around 60 million immigrants here, we should spend it on our own American people. We had 50,661,149 immigrants living here in 2019, over half of whom used our social welfare programs. The problem is much worse now.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/09/01/immigrant-welfare-use-report/71517072/#:~:text=About%2051%25%20of%20immigrant-led%20households%20receive%20at%20least,group%20that%20advocates%20for%20lower%20levels%20of%20immigration.

Americans, who worked their whole adult lives and paid into our system, deserve to be treated better than people who just got here, most of them illegally.

Keith
