I got bit in the forefinger right through the gauntlet and as stated above not real painful but bled like H. Did take a while to heal as the bite was like a knife. Good to keep the tetnus shots up todate. Was in the middle of checking so I ripped my T-shirt to stop the bleeding somewhat so could get back to the kit in the truck.

It depends on where they bite you. Some places would hurt more than others.

Yes, it looks worse than it hurts. No need for shots…muskrat aren’t a carrier of rabies.

Any mammal can contract and spread rabies.

Same thing happened to me once, but it hurt, I cussed, and it bled a lot.

The only experience have had when they bite they don't let go. Lucky enough I got my fingers out of they way but had to retrieve my glove that was in its mouth.

That helps explain the constant foaming in my mouth!

Wash it out good with dettol.

YES, The bite is only minor compared to the disease you could get, "tularemia", which can be very miserable and can be fatal.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

The Eskimos once told me to just pee on it or have your buddy. It would heal faster and stop the bleeding. I haven't tried that yet. I am sure someone on here has.

You can wash it off with the water in the marsh and maybe get a bonus dose of Giardia.

Joke about it all you want but it is a very serious disease You do not want to catch. I know from EXPERIENCE!

Tularemia or Rabies ?

I'm well aware of the seriousness of Tularemia.

Apparently you missed the hint of sarcasm in one of my prior posts.
