They came from the water. There were no fresh tracks on the snow that I saw. I actually pulled the trap out of the water, as I imagine the two of them used their last breaths and energy to try and get there. Anchor cable was tight as can be.

I’m sure they popped out of the water and smelled that fish then raced each other to it. It was all the guts and head from a pike fillet, so it was nice and fishy.
