On the 8th day, the inner bar said we are done boys. We were drilling an 8’ diameter shaft for a power line foundation. So, we cut it off, leaving the hoist cable intact. We moved the drill rig off of the hole, cut the cable, and used crosbys to make a loop. We plucked out the destroyed bar and core barrel with a crane. This ended up being a very expensive repair, which the manufacturer ( CZM ) covered, due to a poor design!


This was a couple of years ago. I go to my surgeon Monday, and hope to get released for work. I can’t wait to get back out there!
