He's days old. He as born ok.but.got wet and cold and he developed pneumonia. On top.of thabhis mama wouldn't are him.
Jerry boss and another lady set up with him for 2 nights, feeding every 4 hrs, and decided they were "too busy"(their words) to take care of him..
They called me to see if id try and get him better cause no one else would take him.
They gave him a shot of newflur(spelling)for pnemonia and one of steroids for a couple days.
I got him friday and it's been around the clock since.
I've had to give him penicillin cause the pneumonia came back and he was showing signs of pressing syndrome.
I've been giving him NSAIDs for a coupe days.
It was really touch and go till monday afternoon when he seemed.to be getting a little better.
To be fair he is alot of work..thwnstarted tube feeding him because he wouldnt suck the bottle, my goal is too get him over to the bottle and back to the farm..pronto..we are not set up to raise him till the age of weaning or butchering..and after ive saved him, I ain't eating him.
He's started to get more strength..he pushes against my leg now when I'm feeding him.
Do any of yall cattle guys have any advice on how to ge him over to the bottle?
Please dont tell me to put him down cause he isn't worth the trouble.
I know he's gonna end up someone's supper..just not mine cause id say no one needs a bottle fed bull.
He's responding to my voice now and after 3days of me having tonqaller him arpundmtongetnhim tonstandnup, he's able to get up.and.down on his own and my backs SO happy.
He's a big guy, he weighed 78 lbs when he was born.
He's actually kinda sweet..
Any good advice on him wpuld be appreciated.
