Hello

Can someone please help with what to use to turn a liquid into a gel form? I’ve bought gel powder for thickening pie filling etc but didn’t do anything.

Contact Yes Sir or Bob Jameson. They’ve done enough experimenting to have your answer

The product, Petro, works pretty swell but it might be too tacky for you if want a gel.

It depends on if your liquid is oil based or water based.

Clear jel for pie fillings usually require heat to thicken.

Coon Duke is right. There are a lot of variables…. Water based, oil based, alcohol….. all matters…. I’d experiment with different products if I were you- some will form a skin over your product after time… Xanthan gum will gel, there are a lot of products that will give you what you want, just have to find the right one. Bob is the resident expert on this subject and I’d take whatever he says as gospel!! After experimenting with several types of gelling agents you’ll find that there are synthetic and natural thickeners and gelling agents and one type typically blends easier and holds longer than the other… THEN right when you think you have something figured out, you’ll get a kick in the clackers, hahaha.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to do, but terasorb works pretty good. It is a powder that is used to absorb water when transplanting trees. A little goes a long way!

For urine you can soak dry twigs in a mason jar. fill the jar with them then urine. they soak it all up pretty quick. refill and let soak. stick a twig in your backing or whatever. no need to worry about freezing. just let them dry and put in a sandwich bag. they will still reek. need good urine.
