Mine are made of 1/4" plywood 33" long X 8" wide.

Use 2" foil covered foam insulation for flotation
screwed to the bottom of the float.

3/4' hole drilled thru the exact center for 5/8" conduit stake.

Small side rails made of 1" X 2" furring strips running
both sides of 33" length of float.

Small lip of hardware cloth at each end to assist rats
in climbing up on the ends of floats with their teeth or claws.

Attach two traps with 2 pieces of pipe strapping
& 2 small quick links for easy on/easy off trap attachment

Bait is not necessary but apples, carrots, or parsnips all work.

Use ground up rat glands mixed with rat bladder urine
and glycerine makes an acceptable rat lure.

spearmint & peppermint also works well but will draw coon
which are a real pain in the butt when releasing from a rat float.

That's It.

I make mine out of two 2x6's for the sides with 1 inch lumber underneath. Cedar works excellent if you have access to it and it can be ROUGH lumber, even slabs will work. In my experience, floats work EXCELLENT in some locations and not worth a darn in others.

I have nothing clever to put here.
