I showed some of our first Pearl Oyster mushrooms of the year a few days ago. The conditions, "temperature and moisture" were just rght for one of our logs to bear fruit. I had a few Maple logs and it was one of those that fruited first. I had let them go to grow more. But it got cold again, 22 degrees last night and they were frozen this morning.

I decided to cut them off and cleaned them up this morning. Not sure if I will fry them for breakfast or save for dinner tonight just yet.

I thawed them in some warm water to soften them, trimmed off some thin bark and some other fine debris. They sure smell good and meaty firm. they perked up real nice after soaking them. I wasn't sure how the freeze would have affected them.

Just thinking of some onions and butter to fry them up. You folks have any other favorite ways to serve them up.

I don't have a lot Steve but sure would share some with you if you fly in for a few hours. I need to clean some branches off the runway but that shouldn't take too long to make it land and take off safe.
