Plus the $200 tax stamp.

Imagine, taxing an item that protects hearing, the shame...

Never " needed or wanted one".
Til I shot one, lol

I'm with you and it's appalling those who accept the federal rectal exam to buy a piece of pipe as just normal intercourse of business.

I went off on my child's school this week for less. We are now the world's largest open air prison.

Agree. Would love to have one but out of principle I want own one. Shall not be infringed comes to mind.

Definitely an asset for hearing protection

I have a Nomad on a Ruger American in .300 Blackout, it is real quiet with subs.

Pretty sure the rest of the pigs are spooking from the bullet impact on their buddy rather than the gun report wink

I've never shot anything with a suppressor. I am curious about them. I understand that they do a good job of suppressing muzzle blast. What about the crack of the bullet assuming your not shooting sub-sonic rounds. Is it loud or even noticeable?

I remember the "crack/thump" training in the Army. Rounds were fired over our heads and the sonic crack was pretty loud from a 5.56. You were supposed to listen for the crack and then the thump of the muzzle blast to locate where the fire was coming from.

Eh...wot?

You can't quite the bullet flight noise ie the crack. But my daughters 7mm08 sounds no louder than a .22/ 22mag. I can hear bullets impact deer, when the kids shoot maybe 400 yards away I don't know it it was them or someone another farm and have to wait till I get a txt telling me they got one. Brings them bown to the.high to mid 120s to low 130 db range. In bolt 708 and 243

I have shot a couple

I need to drop the $

the Banish 30 is the can I was looking at most recently

my son turns 21 this summer so we are going to set up a trust and get some cans then

I already get he lack of recoil with a brake , but that of course makes it even louder.

My kids go on the trust at birth. No need to be 21. Better yet one of you open the trust gets printed and pictures. Once approved stamps come back you add other people to the trust and they don't have to be printed unless you add another item on. But you can remove them and put them back on after approval.
It get them all on silencer shops single shot trust. Each item has its own $25 trust and when you want another just get another trust and after approval add who you want on it as well

He has been researching it and wants to do the one trust , I believe how he explained it is we could do the single shot trust , however since he works on projects with a shop that has a license to manufacture and will likely be building things then at some point form 4 them to our trust this was the better option.
in the mean time he can go to the shop range a good buddy of his is a "trusted person" on the license so can check out any thing from inventory to do their testing at the shop range.
it's only a few more months.

After all the paperwork was done, my form was sent to the ATF on May 31. I got a notification Dec 30 it was approved and signed for it from my mail lady on Jan 26.

I didn’t mind the “criminal” aspect. Like I said, for certain things in my job I have to do the same, so it was no big deal to me.

A suppressor was a “want” it definitely wasn’t a “need.” I get paid to kill things and if that gives me an advantage, then I wanted to try it.

I was the same at one point…a waste of money…too much red tape…and any other excuse I could come up with.
With that said, I guess my advice now is, DON’T get one. Don’t get a thermal either. Both are just a waste of money and make you spend even more money. If you get them, then you’ll want other things like e-callers and mouth calls and upgrades. Afterall, life isn’t supposed to be fun. Trapping before work, go to work, get off and trapping again, once night hits its thermal time. Sleep is definitely overrated, lol.

I live in one of the few communist states that do not allow suppressors.

Interesting. I know after the ATF approves they send a letter to local LEO and can mail out the suppressor 7 days after LEO’s sign for the letter. I’d already told the Sheriff to be in the lookout for the letter, lol. Didn’t quite understand that unless they’re required by the ATF to do it. And no, ain’t seen the first Deputy about it either.

It's actually spelled out in the NFA that was passed by congress way back when, not an AFT add on made up rule. The original intent was that only the wealthy, $200 in 1930s, and the "right sort" of folks, read that as white, as approved by local LEO could own these things.

All gun control is inherently racist, bigoted and anti American. Either all are equal enjoying uninfringed God given rights or some are exercising unjust control over others for evil reasons.

Which is all the more reason for the repeal of the NFA and follow up acts.

1. It has become meaningless in it's monetary requirements.

2. The local LEO requirements are not "shall issue" and as such violate Bruen and has a racial basis.

The AOW stamp is $5 because farmers threw a fit and wanted to be able to keep their game getters that were a 14" rifle shotgun often keep on tractors at the time. At least that's my understanding.

Just ordered a banish .22. I’ve been using a gov issued dead air mask and have been pleased with that. The banish is 100% titanium though.
