Is anyone running one- I’m considering a Kubota RTV-1140. Currently running two Yamaha’s and they’ve been bullet proof, considering the Viking in the Yamaha lineup and want to compare and contrast competitive options. I’m to the point where additional seating of 4 and with the Viking 6 passenger would be nice to have with the grandkids.
The current Yamaha lineup, like many other brands is now leaning heavily into the recreation market, I’m looking for utility, mainly with cargo and the ability to carry more passengers when needed. The tradeoff with the Kubota is speed, it has a max speed of 25mph with the diesel engine compared to the Viking at 60mph- my use is 95% trail riding and no need for freeway speed.
Until I bought my new Kubota tractor, I was in the mind set of hard starting diesels cold temps- I’m over that now. Anyone running a Kubota RTV?

I have ran the rtv 900 series. They crank everytime and have wonderful bed space. That's the only good I have to say. They get stuck extremely easily down here and the suspension wears out quickly with heavy use.

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

I’ve used a landowners kubota to trap his place. I’m not sure which model but it goes 18mph. Smooth ride and rock solid but it won’t get you out of a tricky spot.

Father in law runs them for firewood and collecting sap
He carries about 1500-2000 pounds of sap in his for 2 months of the year. I like it alot.
The axles and hubs seem to be the weak link on them. And they get stuck easy

My plant has a bunch of the 900 serious with full hard cabs. All on hard growing or gravel use but they get used 24 7 many have 6k hours on them. They are slow and cabs are small. I believe I will lean toward the 700 4 seat Honda it the 1000 5 seat for my farm good shaft driven transmission faster and Honda reliability. I'm ok with slow my gator tx is slow and does what I need is simple to work on (youngest boy out new motor in it when he was 9 with dad telling him how in 4.5 hours and one trip to town. Belt drive and parts are crazy expensive.

Honestly for the prices of them and how big the 5 seaters are I'm thinking a 4x4 Toyota mày be the best value. But a bit heavier.

The Recreational UTV's are priced at pick-up truck MSRP... I thought that market would collapse after the Covid curve- but
still going strong.

I've had the Kubota 500 and 1140 for farm use several years now. No issues. :-)

Just my .02.

Go look at one. Get in while the park brake lever is set, After you settle down and recover from the goose you get from getting in, make sure it is set and get out of it. If you like the feeling go ahead and buy it.

Put some Carhartt's and muck boots on and drive it, again getting in and out with the parking brake lever set. With winter boots and clothes on I felt like the cab area was awful tight. I'm 6 foot 235 pounds.

I had to work on my bosses RTV, his sons RTV and two that we had on worksites. Smash the gas and sounded like you were flying but wasn't going nowhere. Gas or diesel didn't matter.

They are a good working machine. The two the company had out on worksites where used and abused but were holding up good when I retired.

Half ton- now that you mentioned it- I talked to a guy that was plowing at a Kwik Trip with a full cab, he said he loved it but it also looked like he was wearing it.

One of the ol boy that has me or my son over to help with horses or cattle has a diesel side by side. It's not crazy fast, but it gets a lot of work done. The only modification he has done if flat proofing the tires.

We use one set up with tracks. Snow is no issue but they are slow, even slower with the tracks. The cab can be a little tight and the parking brake can be a literal pain in the rear. The heat is nice and even though it is slow it beats walking. Hard starting has never been an issue. The dump box is a nice feature and so is the AC in the summer.
