Found this old cast link fastener in some old traps. Never one like this before. Anyone ever see these before?

Pretty slick. How is it closed? Just chain tension holding it shut or do you peen it like a lap link?

We called them sister hooks . used them mostly for pulling underground cable in conduit .

Looks like a handy item to have it may or may not be perfect for every application But just a quick look make me think having some would help me save a little bit of time and effort .

If opens easy I wouldn't trust it to hold a critter.

Used for emergency chain repair. After assembly I believe your supposed to peen the pins over in the matching holes.

I have used the ones you peen over after assembly, the one pictured is not the same.
