Seems to me I was using them in the late 1980's. I know I was using them when I did the video with Tom Miranda in 1993 and I had been using them a while at that time. My memory isn't what it used to be though. You had a picture of Bud Hall holding one in one of your books. I'd love to have on of those.

I bought a dozen 1.5 coils at the NTA in Rochester, Minn., I think in '94 or '95.

I remember way back when I first started cat trapping and you posted this picture. That day I bought a dozen #3s, a dozen drags, some chain, and a bundle of shingles. It's sad they stopped making them. These will be the trap everyone is trying to get their hands on in the future. Since then ive switched to smaller traps because they are easier to pack (and dont hold mountainlions as well), but won't even think about selling the sleepy creek #3s I've bought over the years.
Thanks for the reply- I have gotten to see you become a good cat trapper. To think I could have inspired even a small part of that (plus the videos of you taking you little boy along) makes me smile.
Scott, my rigs are functioning works of art- but have you seen the pictures The Hammer will post of his dogless DLS or Flipper's SC 4.5s. I am glad my phone is water proof- those things make me drool and I mean drool a lot.
