LOL. My wife went on a hobbit adventure with our son and daughter when they were teenagers. They dressed in hobbit clothes, glued fake fur on their feet and went camping and rapelling. They had so much fun and the photos are priceless. That sounds awesome! Such a sweet memory!

I got about 30 pages into the first book , that is just me and my inability to sit still and read
I love the movies re-watch them every few years
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I love the movies re-watch them every few years Do you mean The Hobbit or LoTR? It takes a long time to get out of The Shire. Once you get to Moria, the pace of the books picks up. The Hobbit is a kids book and does read a lot faster. If you really want a test of your reading endurance, The Silmrarilion will test your resolve. Tolkien was a linguist, not really a novelist.

So, is it over yet? You must be close to the end.

Jackson took a LOT of liberties with The Hobbit. A lot of unnecessary ones in my opinion.
I am among the nerdiest of the Tolkien nerds as well, and I agree with this. The LOTR movies were decent enough. The recent Hobbit movies were not. The story is completely lost because they focused far too much attention on making it flashy and action-packed. I'm glad other people enjoy them. I suppose they're fine as fairly standard action movies, but, whatever they are, they aren't The Hobbit. The 1977 Rankin/Bass Hobbit is the one to watch.

The Hobbit series is one of my favorite books. I liked the movies too; especially the Lord of the Rings. The movie seemed to follow the Book nearly verbatim. I liked the Hobbit movie too for the action, but I never remember a white orc in the book.
Lots of folks can't get on board with the story. Its because they don't have a real understanding of good vs evil. Those Hobbit series books are all about Good vs Evil and small seemingly to be inconsequential people overcoming great hurdles.
JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were great friends and corresponded regularly. They left us with some real treasures if we look deeper into the message they were spitting. A lot of moviegoers see it as just an action film. But, you are right, it's more than that; has a deeper meaning.
When my steak is on the grill I feel my mouth watering. I wonder if vegans feel the same way when mowing the lawn?

Loved all the written works, even the Similrillion.. Poems, Tom Bombadile stories. I cant get enough of it.. I even read his sons Christopher's index's... Love the LoTR trilogy, that was almost a masterpiece .. Some things like the scouring of the shire and the barrow downs I would have love to seen but I understand they cant get it all in there... The Hobbit flms..I loved many of the actors and many scenes. I still enjoyed it and rewatch it ... But they took a lot of liberties there, some changes irked me.. Legolas killing Bolg instead of Beorn made me come out of my seat,LOL Rings of power..... Ill just leave that one alone Theres a depth in Tolkien's work, it goes way beyond Elves,Men Orc's, Dragons and Hobbits that I appreciate.. Im a lifelong fantasy nerd and Tolkien is the godfather of high fantasy as far as Im concerned..

oh yea, I understand.. Im not upset at all just things that I would have liked to seen. I want to see Jack Black as Tom Bombadile more than anything, even if its just a 2 minute clip.. The two towers plays pretty much on repeat in my workshop for background, not matter what Im doing I stop to watch Gandalf arrive on the first light of the fifth day during the battle of Helms Deep
