Well okay not cheap, but actually better than just about anything else you can get for the money when it comes to beef. A chuck roll contains about 6 inches of the end of the ribeye, several chuck roasts and leftover meat for burger or stew meat. They are $5.99/lb at Costco, or if you buy it by the case, $5.29/lb for three of them. This box was $392, which is about half of what you'd pay for the separate cuts. Lots of good eating at a great price by today's standards. A little labor involved of course.

I have to say, with what I am seeing in the future beef prices, the $2000 I spent for a half beef, 404# in the freezer was money well spent.

I have a ornery 18 month old bull you can have for 1.20 a lb live weight, be a heckuva deal if someone can butcher themselves

i am really kicking myself for not shooting another doe this past fall, I had an extra tag and it would have been easy to do, just didn't get around to it.
