What about people that leave orders DNR? It's a fear of quality of life being so bad it's better to be dead. I remember reading and seeing in a documentary of elderly Eskimos being left for the polar bears to eat while still alive. Though I'm sure many froze to death first.

DNR is not euthanasia. I sat by my mother's bedside as she willed herself to live and defy the cancer yet she had a DNR order in place. Then as the day of my parents 50th anniversary slipped into the past she let herself sleep for the very last time. I would not have taken that from her. Didn't say it was, but they chose not to be revived.

How awful for him to choose to die in peace on his own terms. He should have wasted away and suffered in agony like a real man.
For those that believe suicide is wrong or evil....is it wrong, if, for example, a person who receives a cancer diagnosis refuses to take treatment, knowing that doing so will cause their death? In other words is choosing not to act, an evil act of suicide?
How about someone that chooses to smoke cigarettes or eats themselves into morbid obesity....is it any better because the suicide takes longer?
And where in the article did it say they were wasting away in agony? Just said they died hand in hand. Got another source that says different?

If you want to off yourself, go ahead, no one can stop you if you're really determined to do so. Looking for society's stamp of approval is something else.

How about I, your children, your ex wife, your Dr Mengele, your government make that choice for you? We ain't talking some despondent head case taking a long walk off a short pier. We're talking state sanctioned taking of human life. Yeah, that slippery slope thingy that always ends badly. Correct

Who are any of you to decide for someone else how they should spend their final days on earth? If there is no hope, and they are diagnosed as terminal, they should be able to make that call. You may not like it, but that's not for you to decide. God has the final say. Not you. Once again, this article does not say they were in any pain, or had a terminal illness.

We all have terminal illness, it's call life span/old age. We begin dying from the moment we're conceived .

We all have terminal illness, it's call life span/old age. We begin dying from the moment we're conceived . Just as I had no part in my own conception I intend for my Lord to make the call for when I go home. If for no other other reason than I know God and I ain't Him.

I live in Europe a lot of the time. I see this going one direction. Europe has a very expensive social system, and terrible demographics, very few babies being born. And Euthanasia. Which means that in the long run, the cost of caring for the elderly will become unsustainable. And as the system breaks down, the solution will be obvious. "Encourage" those expensive, elderly people to do the right thing and off themselves. And when encourgement doesn't work....use coersion. Use the coercive power of the state to push things along. We are very close to this already. My daughter is a psychiatric nurse in Belgium, and she was being pressured to counsel her depressed patients on how to kill themselves, which she refused. You need to look beyond the arguments against suffering that some are using, and look down the road just a little bit, to see where all this is heading. That's it exactly. Once it is permissible it will be required. Like so much in western society like gay marriage to transing our kids. Wait...are you saying being gay and becoming trans are going to become required, since they're currently permissible?
