bff, thought oregon had a 5 cat limit? Maybe I'm thinking of Utah!

Eastern Oregon has a five cat limit, no limit in Western Oregon, but you have to choose Eastern or Western when you buy your license.

They just changed it a couple years ago, no you can harvest Western cats on your Eastern (I think they changed the name to Statewide) card but are limited to 5 total, or you can choose a Western card and have no limit but can't harvest any east of the Cascades.

Why not buy unlimited licence and trap right on the border where you will get both.

You can do that, I used to hunt right by the boundary and got some pretty nice cats on a Western license, but the best ones are a few hours drive from the boundary, out in the open desert country. I hunted the West side for years, great hunting and a good cat population. But the east side is lots closer and I haven't hunted the west side in probably close to fifteen years now. I can be in Eastern Oregon in an hour and half, takes me probably at least seven hours to get to the west side. I can run over and hunt of a morning on the east side if I want to, but some of my favorite areas are four or five hours away, so I usually camp out for them. Will be going over next week and staying until I have my limit.
