Yeah my reasoning for thinking 4 coil is just because of being faster with the added weight of the laminations. Laminations probably aren’t necessary though especially if i do an offset jaw. I’m not trapping for the live market or anything.
I don't agree with this. I would think an offset jaw would be more inclined to be laminated because the the jaws close more than a regular jaw meaning more force being applied to the paw. Offset don't make a trap "paw friendly", that's just what the public prospective of them is so some state require it for that reason. Offset jaws were designed to allow the jaws to close more around the paw, which allows to levers to ride higher on the jaw, and giving you more holding power.
Plus with no BS traps, you save $1 by getting them laminated. The only manufacturer where the "modified" trap is cheaper. If you've ever messed with a NO BS you would see why. It's built like a tank, and the springs are crazy strong. Like they suggest, I wouldn't use one that wasn't laminated.
Like mentioned before, don't over think it. If your someone who worries about the small details and will target multiple species, just get the k-9 extreme Jr laminated 4x4. Then you don't have to worry and stress about the small details you mentioned and you will have more than enough power to hold everything from a fisher to a wolf.
