This thread makes me glad I ruled out Siverados and Sierras early on in my search for a truck to replace my Tundra (tree fell on it).

My reasons were all the bad reports on the Ecotec engines and the ongoing problems with the Active Fuel Management, collapsible lifters and direct injectors. I didn't even know about the tranny problems. And I tow a lot. Sounds like I dodged a bullet.

It seems like Toyota is still making the most durable trucks out there. They are now selling better than F 150's for the first time ever.

I was going to buy a new Tundra until I found out they dropped the 5.7L in 2022 and they are only available in a twin-turbo V6...no thanks.

I'm currently looking for a 2020 or 2021 but folks are asking new truck prices for them. I'd take a used F 150 or 250 if I could find one with everything I need.

PS. Did you all know you can't get a Siverado dbl. cab with and eight foot bed? They don't make them.

IMO, a shortbed pick up is basically useless as a truck, it's just a glorified SUV.

Eh...wot?

I have an 05' with a lot of miles and have had zero motor or transmission issues. Our 2015 and 2017 Chevy Suburban and Pickup have had 3 transmissions replaced since we have owned them.

They all do that . My 2022 has a 10 speed and nolonger does that. Had a 2011 and a 2014 both did it. REALLY bad if you are stopping for a red light and it turns green before you come to a complete stop . It feels like it slips and bang . Sounds like rear end went out. Does it every time and every model from 2010-2021.

I know what you mean. I coast a little longer and accelerate pretty slowly when that situation presents itself. The slop seems to not be there and no problems.

My 2014 Chevy Express 2500 Cargo Van does that exact thing.

I have a 2017 Silverado 1500 also with the 5.3. just passed 58,000 miles on it the other day. Mine does it also and this truck is used very lightly. Has low miles for the year because if I'm going anywhere close to the house I just jump in my Polaris Ranger and go.

Life's too short, enjoy everyday like it was your last.

My brother bought his new in 2021, has 71,000 easy miles on it and it's doing the same thing. The dealer is saying torque converter also. Waiting to see what the factory says to do about it.
