They'll be fine if they can get loads elsewhere. Otherwise they'll go back to NYC. Got to pay the bills.

Always been a sackful wont go there or shakey either one. Its a straight up mess to drive in. There wont be enough refuse that the inhabitants even notice. The guys that go there get paid more. They are not going to quit doing it.

Lots of Imigrant drivers come in my plant that can't speak English. They will have no issues driving there

It just can't be a few the truckers have to stick together or else this won't work. It would be nice if they all agreed just think what would happen if no delivery for a few months.

3 days without trucks grocery stores are empty.

Most drivers today are company drivers. The industry wont support independents. There a few mom and pop businesses left but not many. I don't know of any warehouse's that are not part of a big corporation. They don't want to fool with freight brokers. They want contracts. The few small fleet owners, 95% lease their truck to a big freight company or haul their loads for 90% of the rate. There are a few niche markets. A guy with a mortgage 3 kids and a wife is not going to lose his job cause a man he never met has legal trouble. Sure he could get a driving job again somewhere sometime but not at the rate he is being paid to regularly cross that GW bridge.

Now if a few big companies decided no more NY pickup or delivery, different story. I don't see that happening either.

Do the big trucking companies overvalue their cargo like realtors overvalue real estate for favorable loans? Seems to be a common business practice but now in New York those business practices are illegal. Hefty fines may be greater than profit potential.

Shipper's put the value on the cargo. Freight companies just carry liability insurance on it. The bigger companies are self insured.

No worries, union will take care of their communist brethren in New York. Doubt the teamster's shut anything down, they are bought and paid for.

Didn't banks place the value on the orange man's business interest and gave him loans for such enterprises? Maybe shippers do the same with their bankers and are now nervous about doing business in New York. I don't know how this would apply to freight haulers other than a lack of New York bound freight.

The article says "some" truckers, and tries to make this sound like some big deal. Looks mostly like one foul mouthed driver to me.
At any rate, they've got a mortgage and bills to pay. Voting for Trump makes sense, but losing money or your job sure doesn't.

I say, we start a GoFundMe to support truckers avoiding New York. I would, happily, contribute so that they never miss a paycheck!
