Well what did you think of this guy before the pic? Any prior bad deals or just the no permission? If this is the only time I would let it slide but probably bring it up next time I saw them to let them know I saw they were there.

I miss the days when people respected landowners and borders. You know, like our southern one.

There is a big group that runs this area. The section I live on is the same section as his. This is there go to area that produces very well for them. Common courtesy in my opinion would be to call and ask if I had traps out.
I appreciate the feedback. I will have a conversation with him.

Maybe, he was doing the right thing and trying to get his dogs off your land. I don't how to call and get permission on short notice. No one has a listed phone number anymore.

Maybe he was leading them in on a track on your land and planning on killing everything in sight.

Guess if him being there bothers you, you could ask his intentions. But I wouldn't jump on him until I knew.

Hound hunters around here are my biggest pet pet. They don't ask permission, shoot from the road and don't care what others think. One of the new bills they are trying to pass would cause me to lose my trapping licence for 5 years for the loss of a dog in a trap or snare regardless of weather or not the hound hunter was trespassing or not. Then you just know that $500 dog became a $5K dog as well as his granddaughters beloved pet. I've tried to talk to the groups that hunt around here about it but it falls on deaf ears. No excuse for this BS in my opinion.
Eric, have you talked to the local CO about it. Maybe not press charges but have them stop by and voice your concerns regarding your snares on your property?

I think people get too much involved in their personal space.
If someone is passing through , what's the harm?
If they're up to no good, then you have a problem with them.
JMHO People are becoming total control fanatics !

You don't really own the land, you're just care taker for your time there.
I don't care if some one is hiking or just looking around , or riding a horse , or an ATV through it, as long as they respect it.
It' concerns me when they cut trees or steal things.
If they're picking mushrooms or ramps , have at it.
It's nice if they share the later though .

This is a real reason to stop trespassers , hound hunting takes room to work.
I understand that. But when they steal traps and destroy a trapline just because their dog gets caught in a trap.
Sorry they are a problem , not the landowner.
Don't get me stared on hound hunters that have no respect for anyone but themselves .
I had a very good trapline in the late 70's early 80's that coon hunters destroyed.
I was so ticked off I was even thinking of shooting their dogs, but remembered it's not the dogs fault.
What ticked me off is the fact they were hunting when most people were sleeping and thought they could do whatever they pleased.
Was glad the state passed the trespass law , but hate it at the same time.
Idiots ruin it for everyone.

Yes personal space is granted, but just hikers passing through , is that really killing you?
Only time I was upset with people passing through, is when those people wouldn't allow people on their property, but felt they could do as they pleased on mine.
Again sad people that feel they need total control.

Face to face with the guy. Dont be a (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman). Show the pic and ask why he thought he could trespass when he wouldnt allow you to trap. I would have already driven to his house. If he loses his mind, then call him in. Or tell him to never set foot on urs again. But if u think turning him in will cost u permission, just talk to him and be done with it.

No but dogs don't know boundaries so it does happen. Over the years had a few dogs crossing my land trying to find the owners. I waved the trucks in the road into my driveway to safely collect their dogs. These events were far and few between so i do not think they were intentionally hunting my land.

YOU found their dogs and YOU waved the in to get them. I deal with bear hunter on a regular basis. I understand that the dogs are going to go where the scent takes them. Some of the responsible ones will get into the woods and head of their dogs in the event that they will run private property. Others just let the dogs go through without permission. Others will ask to retrieve their dogs. And yet other will just walk on and retrieve their dogs without it. And still others find it ok to go on the property without permission, shoot the bear, bring more people on to retrieve the bear. It doesn't matter what they cam on the property for if they did it WITHOUT the permission of the land owner.

You wouldn't let me come through your door and make a sandwich and leave once a year would you?

AVERAGE JOE. You are incorrect about being able to retrieve animals from private property without permission.

Minnesota Statute Chapter 609.605 details Criminal Trespassing. The statutes state that a person is guilty of a misdemeanor if the person intentionally:

(1) permits domestic animals or fowls under the actor's control to go on the land of another within a city;

If your animal is on my property without permission you allowed it to happen by not controlling your animal properly.

If someone gets hurt on your property then you are liable. Your property, your call but this day and age I'm not taking any chances.

That guy already set the boundaries and expectations when he declined to give you permission. He has already made it known how he would feel. Call him immediately, ask why you have him on camera. Be direct with your expectations. Be done with it.
