There is talk that environmentalists want to ban lead for high school trapping shooting teams in MN. If this happens, the cost for ammo would easily double or more. Many charitable gaming organizations support schools financially for this activity. Charitable gaming organizations get their charitable funds through pull tabs and E-tabs with the largest source coming from E-tabs. The end of this year there will be no E-tabs as we know them in MN resulting in a huge reduction of funding for schools and other non-profits. This will severely diminish the amount of financial support that will be available to high school trap shooting teams. This change is mostly supported by the MN democrats with only 6 democrats not supporting it.
High School trap shooting is the largest growing extracurricular activity among high schools in MN.

That sucks. You got a contact or link to the bill so we can respond? At this time there isn't a bill yet. But, pressure from environmental groups may force one. They had a newscaster this morning talking about how the earth is being contaminated by all this lead shot according to an environmental group. Their concern was the growing number of schools getting into trap shooting will be a major contributor of this pollution.

It's not about lead or steel shot. It's about ending trap shooting. How right you are!

That’s hilarious given that most of the decent sized clubs are mined fir recycled shot

the irony is steel costs less by the pound than lead as it gets more common and less undesirable it will probably even out to be nearly the same price.
a box of steel #7 is 15 dollars and the box of lead 7 1/2 is 11 dollars
it is probably going to change the game probably not too much 27yard line shooting
but your right it isn't being done for safety it is being done to create more barrier to the sport and kids using guns and training youth in safety and it is done "in the name of safety" to actually systematically demote real safety.

I find it odd, they want to ban a naturally occurring element that neither increases, nor decreases in the environment. Somehow, moving it around is detrimental?

They did this in California said the condors were eating the bullets out of wounded animals. Never mentioned the fact ddt was used in ag for years. It's basically a way to price people out of shooting or hunting. If you can't outlaw the guns find the next best loophole. I believe there is a bill for lousiana in the works or was that would ban lead on all government owned wildelife management areas.
