Fiberglas rods are great. They are lighter than steel and do the job.
My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

You can buy ten foot fiberglass rods at a lot of Home Depot’s and Lowe’s. I've searched both their sites and can't find any. Maybe in typing in something wrong. Any help would be appreciated

Our local bait shop has them in 1/2 and I believe 5/8. They get used for bank poles for catfish.

Here’s a screenshot from Lowe’s ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/fL69BHtY/IMG-0681.jpg) I’ve never seen the pink bar before. The uncolored fiberglass rebar at Menards has splinters all over it before you even pull it out of the bin. I think the hard, dense white fiberglass would be way better to work with than the Menards stuff. Have you used the pink stuff Brownie? Nope. But I know a couple guys who do. They like it. Our local Lowe’s has it in stock. I’m a 1/8 cable guy.

I love drowning rods,Ive been using them for a long time but I can only use them in about 50%-60% of my sets. We have a lot of rocky creeks... When I cant use drowning rods I like drowning chains instead of cable. Little heavier but they never kink or wear out..

I wish I did not have to use drowner weights but I have to almost half the time. Though I usually use a feed sack witha few rocks in it.. When I cant use a drowner rod there is usually rocks everywhere...

So ... get the 1/2" or the 3/8" rod? What yall using for the stop/ staking point at the end? Lowes in my area has them for like $6 for 10ft. Just anneal you some threaded nuts and slide them up from the bottom 8-12 inches or so. Easy to flatten out with a hammer and not hurt the rod if they have been annealed. Take whatever you use for a drownder lock and slip on the rod. I use a piece of angle iron or aluminum for this. Put a quick link through the hole on the lock and then you can carry pole and trap separately and set the trap first if you want.Take a piece of metal conduit to fit on the top end with a fender washer welded to it and tighten the conduit on the rod with a hammer. There's your stake hole. It takes me longer to type all this than to rig up a rod. I think Rally sells the smooth rod which is way better to handle. Those pink fiberglass rods are not to be handled without gloves, you'll get fiberglass splinters just looking at them! Voice of experience here. I originally got the pink ones at Lowes and they work fine just be aware of the splinter issue. I have since got the smooth ones and the pink ones will go in the next concrete project.
