I was wondering if anyone has tried to use a piece of suction hose than a piece of discharge hose on the suction end of trash pump. I was wondering if the discharge hose would fill and could be used sufficiently for transferring water from crick to discharge hose.
What's your thought or experience?

You cannot use a collapsible hose on the suction side of a pump. Is that your question. Lay flat/collapsible hoses will suck flat, on the suction side!

I was trying to save some dollars from buying more suction hose.

I have a crick that is about feet higher than where I want to set my trash pump at. I have ~25 feet of suction hose and to be able to have enough hose on the suction end I need about 10 more feet. I was wondering if a chunk of collapsible discharge hose would work on that end.
I'm going to experiment a trial case of broadcast seeding and harrow it in and irrigate it a few times through the year. Thanks to all!!
A few years back I did patches like this but didn't irrigate the areas and had great success. I harrowed it in early and got late heavy April snows and she took well and thicker than hair on a dog. These were areas of hay yards for storage over wintah till spring and killed off the grass and alfalfa in those areas.

PVC pipe, or anything else that is ridged / hard would work. You just need connections to connect suction hose to pipe. Any soft hose will just suck shut, due to the entire suction section having negative pressure. I hope you can make some pipe work for you.
