Miss Aalaiya and I went last evening and set two sets that she chose. She wanted to catch a beaver with Papa on her birthday. Today she turned 8 years old
I should have taken a picture after she fell in but she was cold and wanted to change before pictures. We had great fun. I'm blessed

Howdy folks! Just got done reading through all 39 pages. I started beaver trapper a couple weeks ago, but not as hard as I have in the past few years... Going to have a Tman buddy come up the 15th this of month and we are going to put the hammer down on some beaver for a week, or goal is 50.... With PA's trap limits, doing much more than that isn't too likely. Will be sure to post pics

Ran sherriff creek today on one of my traplines scouting for beaver.
Found a couple good ones.
Might snare them out if the weather gets back to cold again.

Put in roaster with carrots and potatoes for 3 hours at 250 degrees. Reminded me of squirrel which is a very good thing.

I bet that was Delicious Crappiekiller. I've been using sweet potatoes and parsnips in my roasts lately. Have never done a whole beaver. Usually just the legs set up like a roast. Or backstrap stew

Hey guys! Buddy dropped off a pig today, he’s here on Tman, JEakman I think is his username. We hung out in the fur shed while I skinned it and yanked the castor and oil sacs… after I boarded and took a picture, I looked at the pic and was unimpressed. First off it was a titted sow and I still haven’t found a way to NOT rip holes where the tits are but remove all glands/fat.

Any of you guys that flesh, board, then scrape with a paint scraper, can you please post pics of a fleshed and boarded beaver before and after it’s scraped? I’ll attach the pic of the beaver I just did. In full disclosure, I just for two new fleshing knives that are lethally sharp and I’m sick of putting holes in pelts…. One is a Post and my favorite is a Steinmeyer.

Looks pretty good, go slow where the boobs are, I lap back leg holes opposite, from the fur side I put bottom under top. Skin side bottom over top. See what it looks like dry and then you will know where you have to fine tune your fleshing, big beaver are tough to do, especially if they are thin.

Cut the teats off before you flesh. That's what I do, anyway.

On my big lot of xl's and bigger I averaged $37.67 before commissions taken out. A little less than I did at Idaho but very happy with it. This batch of beaver had a lot more damage for whatever that's worth.

On a smaller lot of 11 L's and smaller I averaged $18.75

(And the $41/lb on 25 lbs of castor has me happy too).

Commission is 6% for OTC

Got a call from the golf course yesterday and put in two traps. Had a nice surprise today when I connected on both sets. Only got a pic of one tho……felt good to get back out and get traps set.
