My bloodhound has been going and grabbing deer carcass pieces chewing them in the yard. Recently she's been chewing deer antlers into smithereens. Now shes been biting her tail/ butt area and licking her butt. She got worm medicine. Any ideas?

May be anal glands. Or a flea allergy dermatitis. May not have anything to do with what she got into

Have your vet check her anal glands they may need manually expressed

These days we feed our animals refined diets and they can’t manually express them on their own. They fill up and cause them to be irritated. Should be no more than a technician visit

Anal gland problems are almost always found in uncut males, not females.

You must be referring to bloodhounds only? My girls have had that issue as well. A vet visit cures it.

I keep Beagles, but that's what a vet told me. Will have to follow that up.

I have Dachshunds…all females. May just be something with the breed.
