A bit of letdown on today's take (I know I'm spoiled...beat you to it) just 10 beaver and an otter from 23 traps. If I'm to make my goal I need to catch ten tomorrow (our season end).. Picked up 11 traps I had on one lake because I'd already had three checks. Set 6 more traps on a coastal river that is kind of blown out right now from flooding. I was disappointed I didn't find more sign, I'd been hoping to set it up with about double that many traps.
So I just have 18 traps out and it will be the third check on 12 of them. Success rate always drops on the third check.

Good luck BP. I think I’ll drag up a couple tomorrow on our last day too. I set 4 yesterday on a new area just to test the waters for next year in that area. Spread em way out to feel it out. Our rat season has been extended one week so I’ll probably scratch out a few more of those through at least the weekend.

I got 12 my last check including two mud balls that I lost to high water in a tidal influenced coastal stream a week ago. Went back today at low tide and found them. So I end my season on a positive note at 301. My goal had been 300 so I achieved that.

Great job BP NF, stacking them up! I'm glad your finding success. Mud, Sask. Great pictures with the kids I've been picking one a day with my two or three traps out in old spots. Mostly dispersal beaver. Don't expect anything today as we had monsoon rains yesterday and everything was already going into flood stage as I checking yesterday

BP, 301! That's a great haul. Lot of hard work.
Getting those 2 Belisle 330s back would've made my day...

Thanks guys. I'll be busy the next several days catching up on skinning and put ups. OTC sale in one week so I should have 70 beaver and 4 otters on it. Then i'll look for NF's big white pine (does a doug fir substitute?) and lean back and watch you guy's beaver stories unfold.

Congrats BP! Great season and countless hours in the fur shed. Really enjoyed this thread so thanks to all of you. Hopefully the market stays strong so we all can get a little return on our work.

Yeah Turtle, those are beauts! I always seem to do well in flooding conditions if I can find anyplace to set a trap. They definitely are on the move and investigate any castor mounds they find.
Just finished putting up 11 beaver and counted up 52 that need to get peeled. And unfortunately for me the weather has turned sunny and warm. Mid 70’s so I gotta get to it!
