On line bidding ended last night. In glancing through the catalogs, seems like very few bids. None in beaver and muskrat. Extremely limited in coyote and raccoon. Some interest in ranch fox.

Will be interesting to see what happens when the live auction starts tomorrow, 8 AM eastern time. Misc items - wolves, badger, skunk, wolverine- are on the first day. Those speciality items usually do well. Saturday might be a different story - raccoon, muskrat, wild fox - how much interest will those items generate.

Guess we shall see.

Hopefully live auction is better. The question is, are there buyers there examining samples? Hopefully the sale isn’t another limited interest in everything but specialty items and a few select items.

After the southern auction's all the beaver buyer's are broke now, lol.

The only thing I know about the buyers that are in North Bay is that they are going over the wolverine collection with a fine tooth comb. Lots of interest.

You would think the online bid could be a viable selling point. Closing the bidding way before the auction may discourage that method. If a customer doesn’t have thousands in travel expense they’d have more money for product. I must be missing something

I agree, it would be to the sellers advantage if the online bidders could bid during the live auction.

Lots of logistics involved with integrating the on line auction with the live auction.

And not just on Fur Harvestors end. That would be the easier part.

You got that right. I have no idea why it isn't so. Any auction I've been to incorporates both. Even the small auction outfits.

its 2024 all types of auctions all over the world use on line bidding. Personally not having it IMO is costing the sellers money and only benefits the buyers on site.

There is a lot of mistrust in the fur business. There is probably a reason online fur auctions have repeatedly had problems. I would think big buyers are not going to sweat the minor cost of travel and lodging relative to the overall money spent.

One of the problems, as I see it, that the on line bidders may not have super fast internet connections and thus might not be able to keep up with live auction. Especially on things like string lots.

But what do I know. I’m just a simple country fur buyer. I’m sure all the tech wizards on Tman have an answer to that problem.

Im sure the FHA could provide reps for online buyers, for a fee(or free), so they can bid in real time.

I don’t know, you go to the show and see a sample, only a friction of the goods you’re buying. Modern times push convenience, efficiency and options.

If they're in the buisness they'll be competitive. Part of being competitive is being on the interweb so that would be a poor excuse imo. These buyers can afford to travel but cant afford starlink? In reality there is no valid reason why there isn't online with live bidding that I can see.

Buyers that are bidding on line most of the time they can NOT afford to travel to North Bay. Plane tickets, hotels, it all adds up. If they could afford the travel, they would be there, not sitting at home.

What is starlink? Never heard of it. Some fancy fast internet condition.

Some of them dont even know what they are doing in the auction room,every so often the auctioneer has to explaint to a bidder what they are buying and how much they paid,lol.I can imagine the SS on line.
