I have bought skins at FHA a few times. Anyone can buy fur there. All I did was get a restricted buyers licence from the MNR(no charge)phoned up FHA told them the grade of fisher and bobcats I wanted and they pulled them out for me before the auction.the price was the auction price for the lots that those skins came from. So I paid exactly what the top bidder paid for those skins. do you think the person that wants a fur or two knows how to do that ? That's just a ridiculous reasoning for not having online bidding. Boco in order to get skins from that lot you need to be the highest bidder(.) that phone call was a favor from a buddy. I highly doubt Tom, Dick or Harry can pick up the phone and make a call to FHA for a few select skins.

Lots of logistics involved with integrating the on line auction with the live auction.
And not just on Fur Harvestors end. That would be the easier part. its 2024 all types of auctions all over the world use on line bidding. Personally not having it IMO is costing the sellers money and only benefits the buyers on site. Ditto on this!!

Funny they been around so long when others went teats up. You cant even start an international auction of your own. I guess the Canadian rednecks are a bit smarter than you all are, lol. I don't know about that, after all, you guys elected the Boy Queen. But on second thought, Biden got elected here. So maybe it's a tie.

There are number of small craft buyers represented at the FH. Maybe not themselves but through a broker or another craft buyer.
There was a broker (no longer with us) who would represent 20 or buyers at any given auction. He would be bidding on multiple species and multiple grades. Took him several hours to sort out his invoices.
Slick pan - im not sure how the small buyers are shut out? Isn’t that what the online auction is for? Or contract a broker at the sale. Phil just had to many customers.

Maybe if they kept them in the auction, they would have got a few dollars more for that fur. Less people bidding doesn't push up the price. Was that a front door or rear door deal? I hear stories of rear door deals at FHA.

If I’m reading Boco’s post correctly, his purchase was 100% above board. IMO
The goods had been graded and ready for auction.
Boco told them what he wanted.
They took the pelts out of ready for auction lots.
FH adjusted the number of skins in each lot.
The lots sold in the auction room for what ever the high bid was.
Boco paid high bid price.
End of deal.
The only person that MIGHT have gotten shorted was the buyer because he didn’t get as many skins as he could have. BUT, he didn’t know how many skins were in the lot to begin with. Catalog said “8 skins”. He had no way of knowing there were “10 skins” originally.
I’m not understanding what is wrong with that scenario. Would some one explain it to me, please. I don’t think it is unethical per say. However it is an auction, he should have been bidding. The purchaser may have paid more and seller received more. My point is FHA is not making a practice out of it. What would be the benefit? Just additional work. As it could be perceived as a back door deal, both the buyer and seller could have reasonable objections imo.Unless it’s published in their conditions.

The FHA auction is underway live right now.
They are doing Timber Wolves right now.
For some reason, my lots in my trapper's portal have disappeared.
Anybody else notice that this has happened ?
