I generally ship beaver from Alaska to Moyles for about $5 per hide. Flesh then salt heavily then as they dry roll them up tight in a ball. Stuff/cram/jam into a flat rate box even as they are still a bit flexible. Tape the box for blowouts as needed lol. You should be able to fit 4 xl to blkt beaver in a large flat rate box this way. The flat 'game' box shape may work better than the square type box.
A friend of mine ships his dried beaver rolled and he also mentioned the $5 per pelt so his way must work as well.
The other thing is that I'm really looking at with Moyles is getting a minimum of 8 skins of a given species for the price break, with 21 pelts being the big break. Not gonna happen with wolverine lol but rats, beaver, etc no problem.

Drasselt, so what does it cost you to send 4 hides to Moyles from Alaska using the flat rate box and what shipper are you using then?

USPS large flat rate box is $23.00 I believe. Salted and rolled tight should be able to get at least 4 in large USPS flat rate box.

Salt generously. Fold skin to skin and allow to drain several days shown here in a barrel with some empty milk jugs to keep the furs out of the juice. After a few days of draining shake/scrape off as much salt as possible and lay them out to dry. As they dry keep close watch. While still flexible roll tight and allow to dry some more. Long before they get crispy dry, and in fact while they are still quite flexible, stuff them in a taped/reinforced USPS flat rate box. As you can see several beaver will go into one box this way.

Sounds like a scam but it is completely legit. Huge discounts on UPS shipping especially with oversize packages. It is how I ship whole frozen coyotes and fox across the country.

I usually ship packages for $40-$60 that UPS would charge $200+ for

You just go on there and put in the dimensions of the box and the weight of the package, print the label, tape the label on the box, drop off at UPS store

Just used pirateship.com, pretty easy. Saved about 50%.

Ditto used Pirate Ship this week and saved $44 on a box. Printed the label, taped to box, dropped at UPS, gave me a receipt and that was it. I thought the UPS place would give me grief but was easy.

Several years ago, I shipped a quite large brown bear to New Method tannery. I was barley able to cram it into a dishwasher box.
I live in Juneau, Alaska. No roads out, so shipping is air or sea.
Air freight would have been over $500.00, so it went by barge. It was still nearly $300.00, and took nearly 3 weeks to get there.

Just doing what I want now.

Yep, just shipped two whole frozen fox 2 day across the country for $60. Would have been $250+ if I would have went straight through UPS. Pirate ship is the way to go

I checked Tubari and they were more expensive than Moyles.
I did just make my shipment of 4 dried, rolled up beaver, in a 40 inch, 8x8 inch box, and total weighed 7 lbs. I used Pirate Ship (UPS) and the cost to ship it from Int'l. Falls, Mn. to Moyles was $18.00. That was the best deal I could come up with and am not disappointed.

Well, Coondagger 2 gets a big thank you as he was the first one to recommend Pirate Ship on here and get me looking, but appreciate everyone else too that chipped in with their results and recommendations.
