I did get $50 plus for all my blanket beaver . Full disclosure, I didn't send the damaged ones up to the sale. They are getting tanned. So those were the good ones. Still a pretty good price though. I'm still hitting them hard as our season goes until April 7. I hope the prices hold. You never know.

1978-1989, I still bought after that from Pete, never had to question his grade.

I moved up there in 1989 but my family has had property there long before that. Those old buyers were real characters.

You have a superb quality beaver up on Tug Hill. I used to buy those many years ago from Pete Smith and Shedevy. I was always impressed. They were always well handled, didn't shrink in the dressing and turned out really nice!!

Is Ray Schedevy still living?

The supply will drive the price down. Now is the time.

Not much of a Winter on the tug. The snow was all gone a week ago. We got another foot or better since then. It will be gone by Wednesday. Hustling now to get more beaver to be sent to North Bay.

I haven't heard Ray's name in a long time. I'm not sure if he is still with us.

I probably should have asked this earlier but are most of the wolverine sold at FHA for the taxidermy trade and are sold with feet attached and skinned out?

Most of the wolverine sold at FH have the feet with claws attached.

I think they are divided between the taxidermy and the tourist market. Some might go to the fur trade, not sure what portion.

The amount of wolverine pelts offered that are “taxidermy quality”, depends on the expertise of the taxidermist. I’ve seen experienced taxidermists work miracles. I’ve seen inexperienced taxidermists botch a perfectly prepped pelt.

I think a $400-500+ hide is the last thing a person would want to practice on!

Question for Mink trappers - is new level of pricing enough to get you trapping them in harder next season? Good to see them finally getting some love

Trapping isn’t a hobby - it’s a lifestyle

The Italian designers are the gurus of wild mink garments.
If they can move the garments they make from the skins they bought the price of mink will go up.A well designed wild mink garment is a very expensive item because of its uniqueness compared to ranch mink which are all the same.
