Well here goes, I had a guy call me about what color or if there are other colors besides pale or brown in Beaver? I haven't caught a large number of beaver but in 70+ years of trapping I have never seen any other color combinations aside from pale or brown and these were brown and white such as a piebald deer. He said he had two come swimming past him when he was on the creek fishing and they hissed at him and then slapped their tails so he went home and supposedly looked it up and said they will hiss before they attack a human. Just wondering if any of you who have trapped a large amount of beaver have seen any other color combinations? I have had them so called hiss when I've had them in a trap or snare but never when they would just swim by.Maybe I've been missing something all these years!!

I have caught a few with white patches on their chest. The size of a tennis ball. I’ve never had on hiss at me…whether in a trap or not.

Just had one hiss at me last week in a trap. Trap shy bugger that took me quite awhile to catch. XL male.
In areas that haven't been trapped in awhile, they don't seem to be overly afraid. This was new ground Loki and I where checking out last fall. No hunting or trapping for over 30 years.

I've never had a beaver hiss at me.

Here's one I caught last year.

I've caught black, brown, and blonde, never white,

I had a spot near Stevens Point where I caught beaver like that back in the early 90's.
