A lot depends on the severity of it, the small ones I’ve had it’s taken 6 to 7 months but it only affected comprehension, not physical, speech, or sight. That's true. A friend of mine's wife had a stroke last summer. She still has trouble with certain words and one of her legs is still weak. She goes to therapy for speech and muscle coordination. Another guy I used to hunt elk with had a stroke early last fall. He has regained all the strength in his appendages, but can't say a complete sentence. If he doesn't talk, you never know anything was ever wrong with him.

Had one going on five years ago. It was a big one , what saved me is my wife found me and acted immediately . You'd never know it, but I'm definitely not 100%. I can get lost really easy in unfamiliar areas, sometimes even familiar ones. I can't fill out forms , even simple ones. My speech is pretty good now, but, depending on how much stimulus I'm subject ; that can induce my aphasia and won't be speaking or responding . Just a brain that's 'buffering'. There's other things, but you get the idea.

There is no single answer to that. Strokes can range from very mild to extremely severe and fatal. They can also occur in different parts of the brain, resulting in different types of damage and different treatments and recovery time needed. All different. No single answer. I hope you and yours are alright!

My late wife had a major one in 2013. Never regained her left side use, speech was finally regained during the 5 months she spent in the hospital. Spent the remainder off her life in a wheelchair. Every stroke is different. No set recovery time. Roy

Lots of variables to be considered, severity of stoke, health of person prior to, mental condition of person, is that person a survivor or a quiter? After 3 still giving life fits. After about a week back to pretty muck normal, not that I was ever normal to begin with according to the wife

ANYONE HAVE ONE AND HOW LONG BACK TO NORMAL? My wife had a bad one 2 years ago tomorrow, Monday. No two strokes are the same, location, how bad, I don't think you can saw how much one can recover. My wife had it on the brain stem, speech and swallowing therapy, therapy for her upper and lower body. One lady said her mom was back to normal in a year. I'm pretty sure my wife will never drive or work again, she can't even get dressed or cook. They say you best recovery will be in the first year. We found out a year after the stroke that statins prevent the brain from recovering, she was on a steady dose of that garbage. They never once said anything about diet for recovery. Certain foods help the brain recover, blueberries, walnuts, lions mane, We bought a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, it was the best thing. Got rid of our arthritis pain, fibromyalgia, and reduced her post stroke nerve pain enough to no longer needing pain meds or pain cream.

My wife woke up with her stroke, they have to give that drug within 3-4 hours or it won't help, or it could kill you. They didn't give her that drug because there was no way to know how long it had been since her stroke started Your correct 4 hrs if I remember right and they need to know exactly how much you weigh.
