This my dilemma here, I posted the prices I got not to bash anyone, just to show what I sold for. I'll start with I've sold to the rat wagon for the last 3 years. They come to within 20 minutes of my house, and I leave with a check. Obviously, there is a right of refusal, so if I don't want to sell at their price, I don't have to. No more than I catch in a year, I don't feel it would pay to ship anywhere and I definitely don't want to have to wait for my money. Everyone has to choose for himself what is best in his situation, hopefully all yous feel like you have gotten the best value that you can!

Not a lot for some of you guys but a personal best for us, season ends Sunday.

Looks like a great season NF, I pulled the 2 traps I had out this morning.Ended up with 5 out of the same beaver pond.

NF, is that number 100 on the ironing board? That has beautiful leather. Bet the fur side is correspondingly purty! Congrats to you guys. You've been showing us some beautiful NY beaver.

Well I'm done for the season. Not trapping the last week. Have too many other obligations. The highlight of my season was trapping a weekend line with Miss Aalaiya. I couldn't have had a better partner. Her proudest moment was catching one on her 8th birthday with Papa Dale, it was also my highlight of the year.
I learned much again out on the line and tried a few new sets I've been wanting to put out.
The oddest thing that happened this year had to be getting bit by a supposed dead beaver. I got to admit the next couple I caught on a drowner I had to look at a little longer before I reached down and grabbed them.

NF, thank you for starting your beaver thread and letting me participate. I've learned a lot from everyone that's contributed. Looking at your fur handling is one of my favorites. You do a great job.

Here's a pic of my last one. Miss Aalaiya and I caught 24 together and I caught 73 on my own. A little short of 100 but I'm good with that. I had a great season and a lot of quality time in the outdoors and barn putting up critters.

I'll second the motion on thanking NF in starting this thread and graciously allowing other beaverers to freely participate. I always learn from others and hope to contribute from time to time myself.

Lot's of good stories told and plenty of pics to illustrate them. Dale's encounter with a beaver Lazarus stands out to me as unique! LOL

Great thread to follow while waiting for the open water spring season here.

Dale, your put up sure is nice to look at too, are you a finish carpenter also. 97 is a great year. We will probably have a few more this week Gerry and Wyatt both have a trouble spot each that they are trying to finish. Five trappers contributed to our total.




YJ, this is how we do the legs, recently started pulling front leg up on nails so armpit can dry better, pulling it up just a little.

BP, and Boco , you guys both got beaverin in your blood and are knowledgeable contributors to many threads on here.
