I don't use the S type but a version of that, yes.

It keeps the flies out with minimal effort and I feel it's way easier than cheese cloth

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

My favorite method is put container in fly proof container. Old cooler or unplugged freezer.

I use the s- bubble type and fill it with vegetable oil so you don't have to worry about evaporation.

I know this thread is a couple weeks old, but I just wanted to weigh in with my experience. I started off using those air locks, as I had several buckets from making wine and beer. It worked for what I needed it to do. I was very fortunate to have been able to visit Mr. Jameson at his shop and learn from him and he showed me that he uses valve stems with the 'guts' removed. The stem cap is then twisted back on 1/2 way or so. This allows air/gas to exit the container and prevents flies from being able to enter. This had an immediate impact on my operation and I was able to now stack the buckets I was using, which opened up a lot of floor space. I'm sure if someone wanted pictures they could use the search function here and find where Mr. Jameson has posted pictures. It truly is an easy and handy way to allow your material to gas off! When looking for a better way than using the traps as pictured above for wine making, I ordered (I think they are called) air stones typically used in fish tanks.... I never used them, though, as I was shown the valve stem thing before I needed to age and material.

That is great info...smart thinking Bob on the valve stem idea.

I have used the air stones, both in the lid and in the side so that they could be stacked. Of course I never actually had enough buckets to need to stack them. I use metal valve stems with the guts removed for vents in gas cans and they work great, I'm sure they work just as well for aging bait and lure.
