I was fortunate enough to draw an Idaho unit 46 general deer tag. I intend to spend the entire month of October out yonder amongst the shining mountains in a wall tent - or mebbe rolling sage rangeland looking at 46 on google earth!!

I'm going to head down and get onsite around Oct 1 and get boots on the ground and understand the country. I also intend to tote along a few coyote traps to run the latter half of the month further east and north of the unit I deer hunt in. Not looking to catch a bunch of fur, just scratch a lifelong itch. I've got my trapper Ed covered in Idaho and intend to take the wolf class at the western nta.. Believe my wolf trapping is shot due to the recent rules change, but we can always hope.

I intend to start off between clover creek and the brunneau river, can anyone shed light on dispersed camping conditions or camp grounds that exist - water, wood and scenery in that order is what I'd like to discuss..

I have a full canvas tent and stove camp set up and am bringing my Honda side by side along as well..

Appreciate any feed back

regards
LH

Sounds like you got a regular Deer tag good in General Any Weapon hunt, General Archery, General Muzzleloader, etc. Many units open to hunt in, Controlled Hunt application starts May 1, big game seasons book is not out yet. Archery season usually starts the end of August and you will have Pronghorn and Elk hunts going on. Snake river canyon is mostly farms.Bruneau canyon is steep and cliffs,Saylor bomb range is in the North. I have had 2 feet of snow in Three Creek in November so expect anything for weather. BLM Burley or Jarbridge should help with access and camping, 208 677 6641 208 736 2350. Good luck.

Nonresidents have to choose a single unit to deer hunt in. That changed last year. So even with a general deer tag they can only hunt one unit, unlike residents.
