The winter blackbird flocks down here are mixed like that though grackles make up the bulk of them.

I believe they are “grackles” maybe there are other names for them. I’m no ornithologist, I do know “bird is the the word”

Lots of Brewers Blackbirds moving thru as well, can be difficult to distinguish from Grackles. You are also in the possible range of Great-tailed Grackle as well.

The colours reflected in the sun off their black feathers is enjoyable to see.

Grackles down here congregate around the WalMart parking lots

Redwings are around water most of the time, except when migrating

Brown headed cow birds get shot when I have the opportunity, parasitic nesters. Drop their egg in another birds nest and as soon as they hatch they go to work knocking the other babies out and being raised by the host species

really your first.

I want to know how do you protect that bird bath from the shotgun pellets ?
I believe the real name is "Target birds"

they do clean up the acorns in the fall when a big flock like that moves in.
