Mud, if it didn’t leek why would they open it.?? Your guess is as good as mine NF. But pics of the box are clean cuts on the cardboard and the tape I went crazy with. The rats that i cased in cardboard were loose in the box and now wrapped and taped in the outer box with the shipping label.

We sent 12lbs to that guy you referred me to a few years ago, triple zip locked em, in a cardboard box, and wrapped a whole bunch of that clear stretchy stuff around outside of box. It made it but they were leaking, started getting cardboard wet. He said the stretchy stuff saved us. I’ve been drying them differently due to his direction, and it’s working out much better. 18lbs gone, that’s a bummer.

Yeah NF that’s why I buy a plastic tote, seal that and put that tote in a separate zip tied plastic bag. Literally impossible to leak. And the remaining cardboard from the outer box has zero stains.

That is too bad Mud. USPS has been my devil when it comes to castor shipping. So far no issues with UPS. Did you insure your shipment? I think UPS is easier to deal with making claims.

I’ve made a claim, but no additional insurance BP. Never had an issue with UPS before with all the castor and fur I’ve sent out west or glands etc. For the life of me I can’t understand them delivering an empty collapsed box that they’ve taped up as flat cardboard with a shipping label that looks haphazardly taped to the box that clearly says the box is 24 pounds. Never seen anything like that from UPS or even the postal service who I don’t trust.

That really sucks mud. I've had the same thing happen a few times. Usually because the box got wet I think. I quit using USPS and have been OK using UPS, but because I still feel the sting from past losses I now always insure castor shipments. Only a few bucks more to insure. Also I squeeze the liquid out of the pods when the castors are fresh and once again after they're dry. Amazing that you still get more liquid out when they appear completely dry. That way they rehydrate less when in transit.

So… UPS just managed to screw my delivery of 18lb of castor. Box received opened, plastic tote containing castor removed, box flattened and taped together around the half dozen black rats the buyer wanted and sent on to delivery. Unreal. My blood is boiling. Zero chance of leakage and a domestic delivery. Sealed plastic tote taped shut and then placed a in a garbage bag zip tied shut inside the box. Guaranteed a drug sniffing dog alerted on your package, the war on drugs guys opened it, found the castor, probably it gagged them from the smell & they couldn't be bothered to reassemble the package & they just tossed it in the nearest dumpster, no harm-no foul (to them). I've lost the last three castor shipments I sent by USPS- never again. walleyed

That’s more or less what I’ve suspected walleyed but am waiting on hearing something about “ law enforcement action” on some me update. But imo that’s got to be what has happened. There’s no way there was any leakage how I ship it.

Very nice NF..
No I don’t believe so NF. It arrived in Grand Rapids on the 11th and was being processed within 13 minutes. It was processed again on the 12th at that same location 24 hours later. Smooth sailing after that. Whatever happened occurred in Grand Rapids on the 11 th caused the 24 hour delay and re-processing. My guess still is as walleyed suggested. I think they opened that box and removed the plastic sealed tote suspecting contraband and damaged the inner packaging in the process.. they realized it wasn’t contraband but too late. They folded up the outer box with the shipping label and sent the outer empty carton on its way taped up flat with the label facing outwards.
Edit!!! UPS had officially screwed me over for more than NAFA …

Ask them to track it down. Maybe they can still find it. It's sad to hear how many of us have had issues shipping castor.

Nice. My garage feels empty.
Received a check today plus extra from Kaatz for my fox glands. At least that shipment made it through ok.
