So the Boy and the wife were cold this weekend. I was busy catching fish on the east coast.

Ended up catching 15, lost one at the boat, only one was in the slot. All the rest were too big, made for a lot of fun but not many fillets, lol.

Furnace got fixed before I got home today.

Pretty hard to beat fresh caught striper. Store bought, not so much.

Yeah GCP, she said the house got down to 50° both nights but they had electric blankets and a couple space heaters. Said it was chilly but she refused to pay for an emergency house call on the weekend. Saved a few hundred bucks for us.

Now that is a good wife .

we have a wood stove , haven't had the furnace on since that cold snap in January

I made sure it worked and had oil before I went hunting last fall.

it always does , I got the call one day driving home , there was an explosion in the basement and now no heat.

diagnosis
dirty ignitor on a fuel oil furnace the furnace had started and run got to temp turned off , then tried to start and didn't then tried to start a few minutes later and did , but the oil atomized in the burn pot and now warm went boom blew the pipe out of the chimney.

got to remember to clean up that ignitor every year or two

I always have a new igniter put into our furnace every 3 years or so.

Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.

I blew the pipe off a couple customers units during my learning curve as a heating tech. Introduced too much oil into a hot chamber and dropped the ignitor. There's no hiding the boom.

Bet that was a conversation you'd've liked to not have had.
